Gulls hover over one of about 70 pilot whales that appeared to be in danger of stranding themselves at Loch Carron in South Uist, Scotland. Marine rescue divers reported that some of the whales injured their heads - apparently from banging against the rocky coastline - before the pod moved out to deeper, and safer, waters.
